Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you based, and do you travel?
I'm based in beautiful Dunedin and often travel to Central Otago and South Canterbury for a small travel fee. Planning a wedding elsewhere in Aotearoa? Let’s chat—I'm happy to travel!
Please note: I can legally officiate weddings only within New Zealand.
Do you have connections with other vendors that will help make our wedding amazing?
Absolutely! I’ve got a list of amazing photographers, signage creators, and other talented vendors I’d be happy to recommend. Just ask!
What happens if you're unwell or can’t make it?
While I don’t expect this to happen, life can be unpredictable! I have a small network of trusted celebrants I can call on to step in if needed. You’ll always be looked after and your ceremony will still be in safe, loving hands.
How does Dumbbells & Wedding Bells work?
This is my pre-wedding fitness support programme, designed to help you feel your best—inside and out—for the big day. I’ll work with you one-on-one to create a plan that fits your goals and lifestyle. It takes commitment and some habit changes, but I’m here with personalised workouts, nutrition guidance, ongoing support, and accountability. With over 6 years’ experience as a personal trainer, I’m all about making the process encouraging and effective.
Cost depends on timeframe.
Do you help with writing vows?
Absolutely! Writing your vows can feel a bit overwhelming—but if you’d like a hand, I’m here to help with tips, examples, and guidance to make sure your words feel heartfelt and true to you.
Do you offer rehearsals?
Yes! A rehearsal is included in my celebrant services to help everything run smoothly and ensure you and your crew feel confident and relaxed on the day.
Can we include cultural elements or symbolic rituals in our ceremony?
Of course. Whether it’s a reading, a traditional ritual, or something uniquely meaningful to you, I’d love to help weave it into your ceremony in a way that feels authentic and respectful.
How far in advance should we book?
As soon as you’ve locked in your date and venue, it’s a great time to book your celebrant. I take a limited number of weddings each season to give each couple my full attention, so the earlier the better—especially for popular dates!
What do we need to make the ceremony legal?
You’ll need to apply for a New Zealand Marriage Licence through Births, Deaths and Marriages (I can help with this!). On the day, we’ll need two witnesses, and I’ll take care of lodging everything after the ceremony.
